The big kid version of all the little real estate books out there!

I read this book cover to cover, 600 +/- pages! It was dry reading, but so full of info that I couldn't put it down. Includes detailed information on virtually every different way to finance real estate, whether you're buying, selling, trading, leasing to buy, etc. I will keep this one handy for a long time. After I was done, I felt like I had taken a college class. It also works really well as a reference, pulling whatever relevant information you need at the time.

About the Author
George Perkins is Professor of English at Eastern Michigan University and an Associate Editor of Narrative. He holds degrees from Tufts and Duke universities and received his Ph.D. from Cornell. He has been a Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Newcastle in Australia and has held a Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh. In addition to Newcastle and Edinburgh, he has taught at Washington University, Baldwin-Wallace College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Cheaper than 12th edition

This book was an excellent substitution for the 12th edition of the same title. The class I was in "required" 12th edition and I bought this one by mistake--no mistake! I saved money and it didn't effect my ability to complete the class. The subtle differences between the two editions isn't worth the price difference.

I bought this book back in January 17th. I contacted them on February 2nd to see where it was, and they told me that they were out of stock. Why would you wait that long to tell me it was out of stock. I need it for school. I would NEVER buy from them again.

Beautiful photography and description about an under-appreciated archaeological site. Compared to the Inca sites (e.g. Machu Picchu) in Peru, Caral is a relative unknown, except to specialists in American archaeology. Thanks to the book "Lives in Ruins," by Marilyn Johnson (which I also heard about through Amazon) I read about Ruth Shady, her important work, and this very important site and bought this book, as recommended in Ms Johnson's bibliography. I was not disappointed. The book is bi-lingual, so you can practice your Spanish translation skills too, as you wish. Seriously, any student of American archaeology and history will be very pleased despite the extra expense.

Great photos but...

I have been to the Caral site and will go again. At least for the present it is recognized as the oldest city in the Americas and it is worth the trip on 14 miles of bumpy narrow dirt roads to see it. My expectation for the book was perhaps greater than perhaps it should have been. It was clear from the authors that Caral had significant archaeoastronomical significance yet too little information was provided. Apparently the entire city was laid out with astronomical observation and orientation in mind but no further explanation was forthcoming. The pictures are wonderful and I would recommend buying the book for the photos but a little more explanation would have been helpful.
